Though President Trump is waffling on what to do about Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals executive order (DACA or Dreamers), he appears to be moving forward with executive orders to build the wall that Mexico will pay for and end Obama’s catch and release practice for illegal immigrants caught at the border. According to spokesman Sean Spicer in a press conference this morning.

Trump is expected to use the Secure Fence Act of 2006 as the congressional basis for funding the wall.

Spicer said the administration would look into ways to strip sanctuary cities of federal funding. He also said immigration laws will be enforced.

Trump is heading to the Department of Homeland Security.

Spicer said this morning again that the priority is to deport criminal aliens and the administration would try to be compassionate with the Dreamers.

Since he lies 50% of the time, I won’t believe it until it’s a done deal.

  2. Athos says:

    “Trust but verify”

  3. Building things…is in President Trump’s wheelhouse. The wall/fence WILL be built…take it to the bank. (And some way…Mexico WILL pay for it in the end).

Unless something changes in the coming weeks, from that first interview it should be fairly obvious Trump isn’t running the Administration. He’s a figurehead, his advisers are running him.

For example, his comments on waterboarding, he’s for and thinks it works. But Gen Mattis and Pompeo both don’t believe in it and Trump will go with what they say.

Good thing, so far, most of his high level advisers have been very good picks.

Next up, economic policies. Anyone laying odds on his effectiveness there? The markets think he’s going to be good.

  5. Rincon says:

He will goose the economy during good times, just as Bush did, with predictable results. For now, join the party. The hangover is tomorrow. What amazes me is that the same Conservatives who severely criticized Obama for prolific spending during the worst recession ever are now fine with Trump’s plans to spend in a similar manner in good times. What changed so that our deficit is no longer a concern?

The heck is wrong with people? And Don wants to not only build more of these disasters, he wants to make sure that the people responsible for doing what they can to make them safe, aren’t even employed anymore. And God knows, for the few that might remain on the job, he’s not going to be allowing them to report on the bad that happens.

It’s a classic republican tactic, practiced over, and over, and over again; gut an agency completely by defending it, demoralizing it, and then criticize it for not doing what it was set up to do.

“Inside Energy also reported last year on what it called the “chronically underfunded and understaffed regulatory agency,” the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, that oversees pipelines in the U.S.:

“According to PHMSA, the agency has 533 inspectors on its payroll. That works out to around one inspector for every 5,000 miles of pipe. A government audit in October [2016] found that that PHMSA is behind on implementing new rules. It has 41 mandates and recommendations related to pipeline safety that await rulemaking.”
The PHMSA makes searchable information about where pipelines are in the U.S., broken down by county, available at its website.”

So you have a company, that violates the law as often as it thinks it can make money doing so, and all the while, destroying the environment, and killing people along the way, and republicans want to make it easier for them to do it all over again. Then, they want “credit” for “creating jobs” that result from this destruction AND for making the gov’ment smaller?

  7. Anonymous says:

You know why republicans talk in bumper sticker slogans (and with cartoons)?

Its because they know their audience.

  8. Steve says:

    Spake the audience!

  9. Rincon says:

It is true though, that Liberals figuratively shed tears when common citizens suffer. Conservatives care little about that, but worry incessantly that the rich might not be able to keep all of their money – as if they can’t take care of themselves.

  10. Athos says:

Liberals cried when Kermit Gosnell was charged with killing 8 babies? I must have missed that one.

Liberals cried when health insurance premiums skyrocketed for millions of middle class Americans? Must have missed that, too.

Liberals cried when a border guard was killed by guns issued by the Justice Department in their sting operation “Fast and Furious”? I must have been taking a nap.

Liberals were upset at the massacre at Ft. Hood? And shed tears when it was declared “workplace violence”? Hmmmm. Nope. Don’t remember that.

Liberals were outraged when the EPA turned the Animus River (Colorado) yellow? Was anyone fired over that? Or was the pollution from Liberal Tears being shed?

Liberals shed tears when Rosa Parks and MLK were replaced by Treyvon Martin and Michael Brown as the new Black standard bearers? (that would be understandable, but I don’t remember seeing any conscience-stricken Liberals – Did I miss that, too?)

Are the cities of Chicago and Detroit examples of Liberals’ concerns when common citizens suffer?

Sorry, Rinny. Your dog won’t hunt. Trump won. Pinocchio is GONE. Sit back and watch how Americans pull together.

Does this count as Dons first terrorist incident?

    Welcome to a Trumps Amerikkka.

“NEW YORK — A Massachusetts man is accused of attacking a Muslim airline employee at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, allegedly kicking and shouting obscenities at the woman and telling her that President Donald Trump “will get rid of all of you,” authorities said.”

  12. Athos says:

Miami is no longer a sanctuary city. Good job, Donald! (I mean PRESIDENT TRUMP!! Man, that sounds good, doesn’t it?)

  13. Rincon says:

So you claim the cartoon had no basis in fact. OK by me.

  14. Steve says:

Someone’s mouth just got filled up with “alternative” words!

  15. Rincon says:

Touche, Steve. Better to say that Athos’ words were just so many horse cookies. To say that liberals weren’t upset by the Fort Hood massacre is pretty ridiculous.

  16. Athos says:

Is that why you all signed off on the work place violence horse cookies ?

  17. Steve says:

Yup, probably THE reason liberals have been losing so many legislatures, governors and the US congress…..then the liberals choose to run a seriously flawed presidential candidate thinking they were running against their chosen opponent, what could go wrong?

Boy did the republic have a surprise for them!
