Newspaper reporter job ranked worst in the nation

Worst job in America?

This week the website CareerCast ranked the 200 best to worst jobs in America, and for the inauspicious third year in row newspaper reporter was listed as the worst.

Pay is low. Future is bleak. Morale is nonexistent. What’s not to like?

“The news business has changed drastically over the years, and not in a good way,” the website quotes former broadcaster Ann Baldwin as saying. “When people ask me if I miss it, I tell them ‘I feel as if I jumped off of a sinking ship.’”

That’s why when people post on Facebook that they landed newspaper jobs or promotions, while others congratulate, I offer condolences.

Photographer ranked No. 162.

A lot of us knew that when we picked it, but we thought we’d prove how tough we were by doing it anyway. And it sure did prove how tough we were, though we were mostly not as tough as we thought.

News? Papers and broadcasters aren’t interested in the news. They need to fill up time and space between ads!

My work is under three places here. All computer and electronics related rated around the 90 to 100 mark.
I know a few professional photographers….yep, 168 is about right.

My brother is Info Sec number three on the list!
