President Obama and Governor Sandoval both want to dig deeper into our pockets to hand over money to benefit people with children, only Sandoval wants to dig twice as deep.
Obama plans to call for raising $320 billion in taxes over the next decade in his State of the Union speech tomorrow. That’s $101 per capita per year.
Sandoval announced in his State of the State address this past week that he wants to jack up taxes and fees $1.2 billion over the next two years. That’s $444 per capita per year.
So, which one is the tax-and-spend Democrat? And which one is the frugal small-government Republican?
Right, none of the above.
Sandoval wants to spend $900 million of that on education. That includes $2 million for free breakfasts and $30 million for social workers to curb bullying, as well as millions to teach English to children who don’t speak it. Whether you have children or not, you’ll pay.
Obama wants to triple the child-care tax credit and give students $2,500 a year for college tuition, in addition to free community college, instead of reducing the debt.
