No sane country for old men

Obama reads his amnesty speech

First Obama waved his magic pen and granted those brought into the country illegally as children to stay without fear of deportation. Now he is unilaterally granting their parents green cards and Social Security cards. Perhaps second cousins will be given free airline tickets next.

An opponent of this kind of action once said:

“If making it easy to be an illegal alien isn’t enough, how about offering a reward for being an illegal immigrant? No sane country would do that, right? Guess again. If you break our laws by entering this country without permission and give birth to a child, we reward that child with U.S. citizenship and guarantee access to all public and social services this country provides. Now that’s a lot of services. Is it any wonder that two-thirds of the babies born at taxpayer expense at county run hospitals in Los Angeles are born to illegal alien mothers?”

First, it was babies born here, then children brought here and then their parents.

The “opponent,” of course, was Nevada Sen. Harry Reid who spoke those words on the floor of the Senate in 1993.

These days Harry gets up in the morning and pledges allegiance to the Democratic Party — not his insane country — and the power for which it stands.

By the way, that Earned Income Tax Credit that can come with that Social Security card can be quite lucrative, as The Daily Caller points out.

Under the EITC, two parents earning less than $47,000 in 2014 could get a $6,000 tax credit. Those with incomes of around $20,000 could get nearly $15,000. Nearly half of all legal and illegal immigrants have income below the poverty level.

No sane country gives away money to people who violate their laws.

Until we get the border under control, we’re playing games. Congress needs to appropriate the money. Where should we get the money? Back off on investigating the illegals already here if the money can’t be found anywhere else. It makes no sense to bail out the boat if you fail to patch the hole. Patching the hole is cheaper per immigrant in the long run. Also change the laws to make it easier and cheaper to send back those caught at the border.

Here’s a thought – you want amnesty? You receive NO Federal, State or local government assistance, PERIOD!

And you will be charged for sending your English as a Second Language kids to school.

  3. nyp says:

As the President said, amnesty is what we have now.

  4. Vernon Clayson says:

Populations are in constant flux, maybe know-it-all Nyp could tell us if the politicians of ancient Europe used the advance of the Mongolian hordes for political gain, or the English politicians seek political gain when the Romans arrived? Maybe they didn’t have an Obama or a Harry Reid.

  5. Athos says:

A country has the right (and the obligation) to protect its borders. Pinocchio wants to overwhelm the system, and destroy the American ideal of freedom and liberty. And replace it with big government control.

    Pure and simple.

  6. Rincon says:

There’s no point in discussing amnesty until the border is reasonably secure. Catch 90% or more and then we can decide what to do with the ones that already got in.

  7. Athos says:

So what is Pinocchio’s point, Rinny? Why is he doing this executive action?

  8. Winston Smith says:

Athos, to understand anything the feds do, determine the endgame first, reverse engineer using the Hegelian Dialectic Process, marking the steps backwards along the way, and Voila!

    Endgame: Global governance
Previous step: Merge North American Union (NAU) with other global regional governments
Previous step: Create North American Union
    Previous step: Erase Canadian border
Previous step: Render Canadian border obsolete via various calls for economic unity/mutual defense
    Previous step: Erase southern border
Previous step: Render southern border obsolete by granting functional amnesty in stages <—-
Previous step: Allow massive crossing of southern border with only minimal resistance while only deporting a small percentage
Previous step: Incentivize illegal crossing of southern border

  9. Athos says:

It always boils down to power, Winston. What are the faces behind the power grab? Who are the persons pulling the strings? Or is this truly End Times? (and more importantly, how can we stop it?)

  10. nyp says:

    The End Times.

  11. Rincon says:

The End Times? Sounds like a newspaper going out of business.

My best guess is when 2015 comes and the Republicans pass their unilateral legislation on immigration, he can remind the public as he vetos it, that the Republicans were unwilling to work with Democrats during the past 4 years and therefore will have no right to complain. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.
