The new Reid math: One kid with cancer equals 1,100 Nellis workers sitting at home

CNN reporter Dana Bash asked Harry Reid today why he would not consider a Republican proposal to fund the National Institute of Health.

Dana Bash

“You all talked about children with cancer unable to go to clinical trials. The House is presumably going to pass a bill that funds at least the NIH. Given what you’ve said, will you at least pass that? And if not, aren’t you playing the same political games that Republicans are?” she asked.

Instead of answering, Reid lashed out at Republicans, calling them obsessed, reckless and  and irresponsible.

Bash unabashedly followed up, “But if you can help one child who has cancer, why wouldn’t you do it?”

“Why would we want to do that?” Reid fulminated. “I have 1,100 people at Nellis Air Force base that are sitting home. They have a few problems of their own. This is — to have someone of your intelligence to suggest such a thing maybe means you’re irresponsible and reckless …”

There you have it. One kid with cancer is the same as a few civilians furloughed at Nellis, and to suggest otherwise is irresponsible and reckless.

  1. Now it’s been 2 days that the American Nation is living without a BIG GOVERNMRNT. We are doing just fine…let’s get rid off some of the 800,000 non essential government employees PERMANENTLY (they make 200 % more than the taxpayers)

Harry Reid really is mad with power, he has “1,100 people at Nellis Air Force base”, they are ‘his’?? Such nerve, someone tell him “not anymore”. He’s the most craven individual in politics, I hope the Republicans keep his feet to the fire, a few more tantrums and the men in white coats will come for him.

22 years ago, on October 1, 1991, I lost my little son to Leukemia. All cancer kids are part of clinical trials. Nicholas Thompson did not survive, but his participation contributed to childhood Leukemia research, and were he diagnosed today, his prognosis would be better. He underwent a bone marrow transplant from a MUD. We had a donor drive here in Las Vegas, the RJ misquoted me. The media didn’t listen to what I had to say. “Dave the Donor” in the state of Minnesota gave my son a chance.

To hear the likes of Harry Reid, who would have Americans surrender our firearms, “If just one life could be saved…” essentially tell a CNN reporter that my child’s life was worth nothing, was like a punch in the gut. October 1 is a difficult day for our family. This year, it was well nigh unbearable.

The Democrats are all for killing children inside and outside the womb. They claim to care so much “about the kids.” And they care so much for our Veterans that they put up “Barry”cades to try to keep elderly, wheelchair-bound, war heroes from viewing the WWII memorial.

If anyone tried to call Harry Reid’s Las Vegas office, they would have received a recorded message: “Thank you for calling the Washington DC office of Senator Harry Reid. We are unable to respond to calls, e-mails, or other constituent needs, due to the government shutdown.” Funny, I was able to speak to a staffer in Joe Heck’s Las Vegas office, as well as in Dina Titus’s Las Vegas office. The Titus staffer was unable to tell me how Titus voted on the NIH funding in the US House, though. She voted to pass Obamacare during her last term. I guess that’s all I need to know.

At least the 1100 people from Nellis AFB who are “sitting at home,” can go to the movies at an AMC theater and get free popcorn! The kid with cancer is too sick to do that.

And, the furloughed employees will receive all their back pay. Kids with cancer might never get that time back.
