“My fellow Americans, the oath I have sworn before you today, like the one recited by others who serve in this Capitol, was an oath to God and country, not party or faction,” Obama said toward the end of his second inaugural speech.
The words were belied by the words that preceded them.
Green energy: “We will respond to the threat of climate change, knowing that the failure to do so would betray our children and future generations.”
Gun control: “Our journey is not complete until all our children, from the streets of Detroit to the hills of Appalachia to the quiet lanes of Newtown, know that they are cared for and cherished and always safe from harm.”
Redistributionism: “We do not believe that in this country freedom is reserved for the lucky or happiness for the few. We recognize that no matter how responsibly we live our lives, any one of us at any time may face a job loss or a sudden illness or a home swept away in a terrible storm. The commitments we make to each other through Medicare and Medicaid and Social Security, these things do not sap our initiative.”
Immigration: “Our journey is not complete until we find a better way to welcome the striving, hopeful immigrants who still see America as a land of opportunity, until bright young students and engineers are enlisted in our workforce rather than expelled from our country.”
You didn’t build that: “No single person can train all the math and science teachers we’ll need to equip our children for the future. Or build the roads and networks and research labs that will bring new jobs and businesses to our shores. Now, more than ever, we must do these things together, as one nation, and one people.”
Lilly Ledbetter: “It is now our generation’s task to carry on what those pioneers began, for our journey is not complete until our wives, our mothers and daughters can earn a living equal to their efforts.”
Gay marriage: “Our journey is not complete until our gay brothers and sisters are treated like anyone else under the law, for if we are truly created equal, then surely the love we commit to one another must be equal, as well.”
ObamaCare and debt ceiling: “We must make the hard choices to reduce the cost of health care and the size of our deficit.”
Welcome to four more years of more of the same.

hurrah, mediocrity
Absolutely correct.
I can’t wait.
Its sad, actually, the mediocre are always at their best.
From a Heritage Foundation blog posting today:
“The politics of division and class warfare, the centerpiece of Obama’s campaign rhetoric, are the antithesis of King’s dream.
“Obama’s agenda — one that will likely include more reckless spending, bigger government and new challenges to our values and institutions — threatens the very nature of the American dream.”
Danger, danger. His platitudes were theater for today, thinking persons will recall we still have no idea who he is or where he came from or why he was placed by, the latter becomes more evident as time passes. Thinkers will also recall his duplicity, what he says and what he does are entirely separate entities and we should fear his agenda and the fruits of it way into the future.
What a crock!
Do not blame Caesar, blame the people of Rome who have so enthusiastically acclaimed and adored him and rejoiced in their loss of freedom and danced in his path and given him triumphal processions. Blame the people who hail him when he speaks in the Forum of the new wonderful good society which shall now be Rome’s, interpreted to mean more money, more ease, more security, and more living fatly at the expense of the industrious.” –Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 BC)
That’s why the Founders did not want a democracy.

And how ’bout that Beyonce? She absolutely nailed it!
Hey NYP! Let’s play horse, I’ll be the front end and you can be yourself.
Glad Nyp likes the entertainment.
But that does explain a lot.
There’s some childish delight in nyp’s comments, it seems he believes in fairy tales. For his information fairy tales have a measure of cruelty in them, wolves are in many of them, behind Obama’s practiced smile there’s colder eyes than any hungry wolf. It was difficult to watch, especially John Boehner trudging along, as usual, in Obama’s wake, he’s the tragic figure in the farce, albeit a willing player. Our very own player in the farce, Harry Reid, was largely ignored, except that he was spotted trying to filch a souvenir. There was something childish in that, so no more DIrty Harry, he’s now Naughty Harry.
